Jesus’ death of the cross has legally freed the captives of sin as far as the government of God is concerned. But sinners do not experience that condition of freedom until they hear the good news and believe it. When they reckon themselves freed from the taskmaster of sin; and count on the government of God for its power to deliver them; then they experience justification by faith.
