Instead of attacking their error and combating it with hard argument, the apostle begins with an experience, which illustrates the case in hand. In this narrative he shows that salvation is wholly by faith for all men alike, and not in any degree by works. As Christ tasted death for every man, so every man who is saved must have Christ's personal experience of death and resurrection and life. Christ in the flesh does what the law cannot do. The Spirit is life because of righteousness. This, then, is that birth of the Spirit, which makes one entirely new; it makes the sinner righteous by making him a keeper of the law of God.
In short, instead of the ministration of the righteousness of God in Christ, they got only the ministration of death; for the very same thing, which is a savor of life to them that believe, is a savor of death to them that do not believe.

People wonder why the Bible contains no command for Sunday observance. They think this “new” Sunday-keeping is right, but feel hurt that the Lord had not vouchsafed them one word of encouragement. If only one text could be found, what a relief it would be.
What a world of comfort in that statement that we are “all of one;” that we have exactly the same right to call God our Father that Christ has.
Since the Sabbath is the sign of a perfect creation completed, and by the cross of Christ a new creation is accomplished, the Sabbath must be the sign of the cross. Try it and see if it is not.
